PerformRx℠ Residency Program Reaccredited by ASHP

PHILADELPHIA--PerformRx, a next-generation, full-service pharmacy benefit manager (PBM) with industry-leading clinical programs, and part of the AmeriHealth Caritas Family of Companies, announced today that the ASHP (American Society of Health-System Pharmacists) Commission on Credentialing has granted it full reaccreditation for the postgraduate year one (PGY1) managed care pharmacy residency program. The reaccreditation is effective for six years.

ASHP is a national organization that represents pharmacists who practice in acute and ambulatory care settings, and a leader in efforts to improve medication use and enhance patient safety. ASHP partners with the Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy (AMCP) to accredit PGY1 managed care pharmacy residency programs that further the knowledge and skills of pharmacists through training in patient care and managed care principles and business practices.

“We are pleased to have been reaccredited,” said Director of Clinical Market Intelligence Lauren Megargell. “We pride ourselves on being a clinically focused PBM, and we are happy to offer young pharmacists an opportunity to work at a managed care organization where they can continue to grow and learn.”

PerformRx is a PBM that fosters a clinical culture and has provided best-in-class services since 1999, including formulary development, drug therapy management, prior authorization, and rebate management. Its clients include Medicaid, Medicare, commercial, workers’ compensation, and employer group plans. PerformRx’s PGY1 residents rotate through each department during their residency to get a well-rounded experience and understand the ins and outs of PBMs and MCOs.

“It’s a great accreditation for our organization,” noted Mesfin Tegenu, president of PerformRx. “We have a number of young, talented pharmacists at PerformRx who started with us as residents. The accreditation that ASHP provides for the PGY-1 lets graduate pharmacists know PerformRx can provide the experience they need to excel in a very competitive marketplace.”
