Mesfin Tegenu, M.S., R.Ph.
Mesfin Tegenu is the president of PerformRx, LLC. A clinical pharmacist and executive with more than 25 years of experience, Tegenu’s vision has resulted in the development of leading-edge pharmacy benefit solutions that enable health plans to improve member outcomes while reducing costs.
Tegenu spearheaded the creation of PerformRx after successfully developing a comprehensive in-house pharmacy benefit management program for a national provider of managed care services. Under his leadership, PerformRx has grown to offer next generation pharmacy benefits to millions of people nationwide. Tegenu is active in the community and currently serves on the board of multiple civic organizations.
In addition to his New York State Pharmacy license, Tegenu holds a Bachelor of Pharmacy degree from Addis Ababa University, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, and a Master of Science degree from St. John’s University, Queens, New York.
James Brehany, Pharm.D., J.D., PA-C
Associate Vice President, Chief of Staff
James Brehany, Pharm.D., PA-C, J.D., currently holds the position of associate vice president, chief of staff for PerformRx. He has devoted the vast majority of his 30-year career in pharmacy to managed care.
During this time, Brehany has held a number of operational, clinical, management and executive positions in both the PBM and managed health care markets, including director of drug purchasing, director specialty drug operations, PBM corporate counsel and vice president/general manager mail service operations. In addition, Brehany, as an Associate Professor of Pharmacy Administration, taught Pharmacoeconomics and Principles of Managed Care at the University Of Rhode Island School Of Pharmacy.
Vice President and Chief Financial Officer
Michael Reilley is vice president and chief financial officer of PerformRx. He is responsible for overseeing all of PerformRx’s financial operations, including strategic planning, reporting, budgeting and supervision of accounting functions. Furthermore, Reilley oversees the accounting and rebate staff as well as all banking and investment functions. As the chief financial officer, he also helps to establish the strategic direction of the organization while monitoring the company’s operational and fiscal performance.
Before joining PerformRx, Reilley served in different capacities within the finance department of the AmeriHealth Caritas Family of Companies for over six years. There he oversaw financial reporting including quarterly, annual and year-end audits. During his career at AmeriHealth Caritas, he developed business plans, conducted feasibility studies, and was involved with the strategic planning process.
Reilley has over 30 years of accounting and finance experience, 19 of which are with managed care organizations. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting and Finance from Drexel University.
Marie Savard, M.D.
Dr. Marie Savard, M.D., is chief medical officer at PerformRx. Dr. Savard is a trusted voice on women’s health, an internationally recognized internal medicine physician, health educator, and speaker on women’s health, patient empowerment, and collaborative doctor-patient partnerships. She is the author of four bestselling books on the subject of personal health management and wellness and was also an ABC News Medical Contributor.
Dr. Savard was previously the director of the Center for Women's Health and an associate professor at the Medical College of Pennsylvania, Jefferson Medical College, and the University of Pennsylvania School Of Medicine. She was technical advisor to the United Nation's Fourth World Conference on Women, served on the American Board of Internal Medicine's Subcommittee on Clinical Competency in Women's Health, was director of quality management at Pennsylvania Hospital, and has been a health columnist for Woman's Day magazine.
Dr. Savard is currently a member of the University of Pennsylvania’s Board of Trustees and the University of Pennsylvania’s School of Nursing’s Board of Overseers. She also serves on WXPN’s Advisory Board, the Editorial Board of Family Circle, and the Women’s Health Leadership Council of the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Savard has a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing and a M.D. degree from the University of Pennsylvania.
Andrew Maiorini, Pharm.D.
Vice President, Clinical Programs
Andrew Maiorini is vice president of clinical programs with PerformRx. He has been with the company since 2005, serving in various clinical roles supporting Formulary Management, Drug Utilization Review, and Drug Therapy Management. Maiorini joined PerformRx as a clinical pharmacist. His scope of clinical expertise spans the growth and expansion of PerformRx’s award-winning Drug Therapy Management program, the implementation of Medicare Part D programs, as well as the specialty drug management, bleeding disorder and Hepatitis C management programs. Additionally, he developed several advanced utilization management programs, including an opioid overutilization management program. In his current role, he oversees formulary development, drug therapy management, pharmacy informatics/analysis and PerformRx’s state-of-the-art prior authorization process.
Maiorini graduated from La Salle University with a Bachelor Degree in Biology. He received his Doctor of Pharmacy from Temple University’s School of Pharmacy. Maiorini then completed a General Practice Residency at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital. Prior to working at PerformRx, he was the ICU Clinical Pharmacist for Delaware County Memorial Hospital in the Crozer-Keystone Health System.
Patrick Gallagher, R.Ph.
Vice President, Operations
Patrick Gallagher is vice president of operations with PerformRx and has a long history as an integral member of the company. Gallagher joined PerformRx in 2002 as a clinical pharmacist and worked his way up to supervisor of the Clinical department. He subsequently transitioned to the Account Management department as a senior account executive working with five Medicaid managed care organizations and three Medicare Advantage Plans. After two years in this position, he was promoted and transitioned to director of the newly formed Business Solutions department. Subsequently, the Pharmacy Network department was added into Gallagher’s jurisdiction. He created cutting-edge PBM systems in the areas of claims processing, clinical services, compliance, logistics, procurement, contracting, and IT systems for customers.
In his current position, Gallagher oversees all PerformRx operational areas, including the Customer Care Center, New Business Implementation, Business Solutions and Network Operations. Additionally, he supports sales and growth activities. Gallagher is responsible for managing all PerformRx vendor relationships as well as internal and external systems development and technical advancement within pharmacy operations.
Gallagher graduated from Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and Science with a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy. He is also a registered pharmacist with the Pennsylvania State Board of Pharmacy, and he has 11 years of experience working in community pharmacy. He is a member of the Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy (AMCP), the National Council for Prescription Drug Programs (NCPDP), ASHP (American Society of Health Systems), and HIMSS (Health Information Management Systems Society).
Michelle Juhanson, CHC, CHPC
Director, Compliance and Quality
Michelle Juhanson is the director of compliance and quality at PerformRx. She is a Medicare Part D policy expert with a passion for regulatory compliance and the Medicare Prescription Drug Benefit program. Juhanson worked as an analyst and network contractor for Cigna International Latin America and Cigna International Expatriate Benefits, respectively.
Juhanson has worked in compliance from the inception of Part D on all sides: for federal plans, for the plan sponsor and for a PBM. She is responsible for compliance with relevant state and federal laws for PerformRx's Medicare, Medicaid and commercial health plan clients. Juhanson is also responsible for creating an overall quality vision, setting quality goals and recommending organizational and process changes to achieve URAC, NCQA and the CMS Star Ratings.
Michelle Juhanson graduated from Drexel University with a BA in International Area Studies. She is certified in Health Care Compliance and Healthcare Privacy Compliance by the Health Care Compliance Association.
John Barrett, R.Ph.
Vice President, Account Management and Business Development
John Barrett is the Vice President of Account Management and Business Development for PerformRx. He holds over 30 years of experience in the pharmaceutical world. In his role, John serves as the key leader driving business development strategy and execution, building long-term relationships with clients and execution of growth and retention strategy, and leading the Marketing, Sales, Proposal, Public Relations and Account Management teams.
In addition to his current work with PerformRx, John previously spent 10 years with the company, serving in various key operational, quality and compliance roles. John has also worked as a pharmacy accreditation reviewer for URAC, a Washington, D.C.-based health care accreditation organization, and brings his intimate knowledge of the accreditation process and requirements to PerformRx. He has also practiced as a clinical pharmacist in mail order and community pharmacies.
John holds an MBA from LaSalle University and a Bachelor of Science Degree from the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and Science. He is a registered pharmacist and is a member of the Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy, the Pennsylvania Pharmacists Association, the BucksMont Pharmacists Association and the Health Care Compliance Association.

Steven H. Bohner
Senior Vice President, Finance and Chief Financial Officer, AmeriHealth Caritas
Steve Bohner has served as the Senior Vice President, Finance and Chief Financial Officer for AmeriHealth Caritas since 2009. Prior to that, he has held progressively responsible positions within the organization since 1992.
As the Senior Vice President, Finance and CFO, Mr. Bohner is responsible for the Company's overall financial functions including Accounting, Financial Planning and Analysis, Actuarial Services, Treasury Management, Financial Services, and Sourcing. He also plays an integral role in new business development and strategic financial planning.
During Mr. Bohner's tenure at AmeriHealth Caritas, the Company has grown from one product line and 50,000 members in one state, to multiple product lines and more than 6.6 million members in 16 states and the District of Columbia. Additionally, revenue has grown from $275 million to $5.6 billion.
Prior to AmeriHealth Caritas, Mr. Bohner worked in public accounting for almost three years.
Mr. Bohner holds a BS in Accounting and Finance from Davis and Elkins College, Elkins, West Virginia, where he was Magna Cum Laude. He successfully completed the CPA exam and is licensed in the state of Pennsylvania. He is also a member of the AICPA and PICPA.
